March 17th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) A Nicaraguan man identified by the last name Orozco was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly selling counterfeit cedulas (national identification cards) for ¢120,000 each.
The arrest came after a complaint filed last month. Orozco allegedly sold and distributed the counterfeit cedulas around San José’s Parque Central and Parque Merced.
The suspect was carry four counterfeit cedulas when he was arrested.
“Foreigners residing in the country are asked to ignore offers from third parties outside the offices of Immigration, who promise to obtain immigration documents in exchange for money,” said Kathya Rodriguez, Director General of Immigration.
Orozco’s arrest is the second such arrest in 2014.
