Those who attended the “Safety in Civil Disturbances” workshop are from the areas of Ciudad Neilly, Palmar Norte, Golfito, Coto Brus, Laurel and Perez Zeledon. The workshop consisted of 11 training hours and involved Red Cross staff from Panama as well as Fuerza Publica officials.
The purpose of the training was to prepare first responders both emotionally and physically to respond to incidents of civil unrest and to provide care in such circumstances.
Among the subjects covered were chemical weapons, decontaminating patients, personal protective equipment, and safety standards in cases of civil unrest.
