Tempisque River Bridge will be closed

Workers will be replacing a slab on the bridge after a large hole opened in the bridge deck on October 30th.

November 13th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Tempisque River Bridge in Guardia de Liberia, which connects Liberia and several coastal communities in Guanacaste will be closed as of 7 p.m. today, and will remain closed for three days.

The closure will allow road crews to replace a slab on the bridge after hole opened up on the bridge deck on October 30th.

At least 7,000 vehicles per day cross the bridge, which is an important route between Liberia and communities such as Santa Cruz, Nicoya, Filadelfia, and Playas del Coco.

According to area residents, the bridge has been repaired or repaved four or five times in less than two years.

Editor’s note: Traffic will be able to pass the route using the old bridge which runs parallel to the one in the article, according to Transit authorities.
