October 10th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A father and son who were taking pictures of a landslide when a second, larger landslide broke loose, are still missing after more than 48 hours while residents and workers continue to search for the pair with shovels and machinery.
The father and son were identified as Yepe Castro Sibaja, 42, and his 9-year-old son, Roberto Castro Ugalde of Nuevo Arenal.
Hundreds of residents donned rubber boots and took up shovels to aide in the search for the pair yesterday. Residents said they would not stop until they found the pair.
The father and son were well known and loved by the community by both locals and expats alike. “The entire town is heartbroken,” Robert Theiss, an expat from California told Inside Costa Rica.
Expat residents have been delivering food to the site where residents continue the search.
Specialized search dogs are expected to assist in the search today.
