August 26th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Costa Rica’s child welfare agency, PANI, is looking into the case of a young girl of about 10 years of age who was working in a Hooters restaurant in Escazu on Sunday, August 18th. Customers at the restaurant who were taken aback by the scene captured photos of the girl, dressed in the typical Hooters uniform, with their camera phones and posted the images on Facebook.
Customers at the restaurant said the girl was taking orders from customers.
Costa Rican law prohibits minors less than 17 years of age from working in any business that sells alcoholic beverages, including restaurants.
Supposedly, the young girl is the daughter of a waitress at the restaurant.
The Office for the Eradication of Child Labor is also looking into the incident.
The manager of the Hooters admitted that a mistake was made and that measures would be taken to prevent its recurrence.
