June 24th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A series of five earthquakes – all with epicenters in Nicoya – rocked Costa Rica yesterday afternoon.

The first tremor occurred at about 1:35 p.m. near Los Angeles de Garza, in Nicoya, measuring a magnitude 3.3 on the Richter scale.

That tremor was followed by the strongest of the temblors, a magnitude 5.8 quake which struck two kilometers northwest of the town of Zaragoza, also in Nicoya, at 2:00 p.m.

Three additional minor temblors followed, with the last occurring at 2:50 p.m.

Reports of shaking caused by the magnitude 5.8 event were received throughout the country, though no injuries or damage were reported.
