April 4th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The government of Costa Rica called on North Korea yesterday to abandon its belligerent attitude and made a new call for that country to fulfill the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
Text sent by Costa Rica’s Foreign Ministry reiterates its concern about the situation on the Korean peninsula. The statement said that Costa Rica “adds its voice to the international community,” calling on North Korea to end its threats, and reaffirms the urgent need to resume talks to establish a climate of stability on the Korean peninsula.
Tensions over a possible conflict have increased even more in recent days. Just today, South Korean authorities and others reported that North Korea has moved a long-range missile to its east coast. Meanwhile, the North said that officials there have “approved” a nuclear strike on the United States.
The North and its 29-year-old leader, Kim Jong-un, also has blocked the border crossing to the Kaesong industrial complex, which is seen as the last sign of North-South cooperation.
