Authorities detain U.S. citizen with 1,417 grams of liquid cocaine

March 25th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Agents of the Drug Control Police (PCD) and the Ministry of Public Security arrested a U.S. citizen over the weekend for allegedly possessing liquid cocaine.

 

The U.S. citizen, identified by the last name Kiathlee, 45, was attempting to leave the country in route to Zurich, Switzerland, with a layover in Madrid, Spain.

 

According to a report issued by the PCD, the suspect showed suspicious behavior while at the Juan Santamara Airport, and caught the attention of authorities while present at the boarding gate.  The American was then taken to a room for inspection.

 

According to authorities, the suspect was carrying several bottles of shampoo which field tests indicated containing liquid cocaine.

 

Authorities say the suspect had a total of 1,417 grams of liquid cocaine.  Agents also confiscated $340 USD.

 

The suspect could face up to 20 years in prison.
