U.S. Citizen and Canadian arrested for selling marijuana brownies at farmers’ market

March 19th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Police detained a U.S. citizen and a Canadian who were producing and selling brownies containing marijuana.  According to information provided by the Ministry of Public Security, the subjects were selling the brownies in broad daylight at the farmers’ market in Quepos.

 

Police were made aware of the situation when residents complained to the Fuerza Publica and the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ).

 

Mynor Bolanos, chief of the police station in Quepos, said that the arrested American was identified by the last name Francis, and is 63 years of age.  The Canadian was identified by the last name of Reid, and is 56 years old.

 

The men were arrested after authorities detected a strong odor of marijuana in the brownies.  The suspects admitted that some of the brownies contained marijuana.

 

Of the 37 brownies that were seized, 18 proved to contain marijuana.  The suspects have since been released from custody.

    we are moving from colorado where marijuana is legal for both medical and recreational purposes. we are moving to costa rica? is this a mistake? I have read where it is decriminilized but how is really? and How is it on the streets? Ive only ever seen marijuana for sale in a dispensary lol.
