Judge charged with rape of fellow judge

March 7th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A criminal complaint of alleged rape has been entered against judge of the First Chamber, Oscar Camacho Gonzalez, 51 – and the accuser is another judge.

The complaint was filed by Priscilla Munoz Quiros, 38, a judge that handles administrative disputes.

In October 2012, she filed an administrative complaint with the Full Court for alleged sexual harassment and violence by the judge, who was also chairman of the Committee on Administrative Disputes, a body that oversees judges in that area.

A month later, Judge Gonzalez was accused of rape and attempted rape before the Public Ministry.

Quiros claims that the sexual assaults occurred between 2001 and 2009, in the midst of a relationship with the judge.

Yesterday, the press office of the Attorney General confirmed that the case is pending.

“There have been medical-legal opinions, interviews with witnesses and a raid on a clinic, where they seized the medical records of the victim,” the Attorney General’s office said.

Gonzalez denies the allegations.

“I only ask you to respect my right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence that encompasses each and every Costa Rican citizen,” the judge said as part of a statement.
