March 4th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Costa Rican Renovation Party’s Justo Orozco, who has stirred controversy lately by promoting the idea that homosexuals can be “cured,” and who has recently stated that he is “one of the most intelligent people in the country,” says he would like to run for President of Costa Rica, but only has enough funds to make a bid for mayor of San Jose.
The controversial lawmaker said that as mayor he would seek ways to keep the capital city cleaner and secure housing for San Jose families through “soft loans.”
Orozco was confimed as the president of the Costa Rican Renovation Party Saturday afternoon. Amongst his first priorities is to change the party’s logo, removing a part of the logo that appears as a small fish.
He also stressed that there are sectors in the country that have been unfair to him and his thinking, and said that he respects everyone.
However, he added that you cannot “pass a law to legalize sin,” in reference to a previous bill that would have offered a sort of legal domestic union for gays.
Orozco said he does not view the mayor’s seat as a platform to the Presidency, but did indicate he would like to become President of the Republic.
