
March 1st, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) According to a survey by the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR), the December 2012 – January 2013 holiday season closed with “regular” hotel demand by national tourists.
CANATUR consulted 152 companies, representing about 5,600 hotel rooms, across the country last month.
According to the survey, 40.6% of respondents believed domestic tourism demand was fair, 28.6% believed it was poor, 12.4% said it was good, 7.3% very good, and 6.6% described demand as very bad.
Guancaste, Puntarenas, and the Central Pacific areas were the regions with the highest levels of domestic tourism demand, while the Central Valley and the Caribbean recorded the lowest levels of demand.
