February 26th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A 35 year-old man, identified as Francisco Mendoza Garcia, lost a hand after being attacked with machetes over an apparent land dispute.

The incident took place at 3pm on Sunday Ceibo de Cariari de Pococí, 76 km north of Guapiles.

Keilor Perez of the Red Cross explained that, upon arrival, they found Mendoza with his left hand amputated up to the wrist, and with multiple injuries to his right hand.

The man was taken to a local EBAIS before being sent to a local clinic in delicate condition.
