February 26th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Its official: Cirque du Soleil will be performing in Costa Rica from May 31st to June 15th at Hacienda Espinal, located on kilometer 17 on the highway to Caldera.
Cirque du Soleil will be performing Varekai, which means “wherever” in the Romany language of the gypsies, and is a story of a lonely young man who falls from the sky into a magical forest. Director Roberth Mackenzie, who has almost 20 years with the company, said that the experience in Costa Rica would have the same quality as in all other cities where it has premiered.
“If you have seen a Cirque du Soleil show, you know that upon entering the tent, each attendee realizes that something special awaits. The interior of the tent is fully air-conditioned and is very intimate, where no one is more than 20 feet from the stage,” Mackenzie said.
The show features 55 artists from 27 countries that will perform under an enormous 20,000 square meter tent.
According to a spokesperson, the visit has been planned for more than four years and it is hoped there will be some 60,000 attendees in total by the end of the performances.
Tickets will be on pre-sale for Credomatic customers from March 6th to March 10th on e-ticket.com, with prices ranging from 28,000 to 134,400 colones.
