Hotels reported occupancy of 54% last year, lower than 2011

February 15th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The total occupancy of hotels last year was lower than the figure in 2011.

 

According to the survey conducted annually by the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels, 2011 showed a 55% occupancy rate, while that number fell to 54.1% in 2012.

 

Hotels with the lower occupancy were in the South Pacific zone, with 50% occupancy, while the most visited hotels were those in Guanacaste, which reported a 59% occupancy rate.  According to the report, tourists preferred four-star lodgings.
