February 1st, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) According to the latest survey conducted by polling firm CID-Gallup, published Thursday by Diaro Extra, six in ten Costa Ricans believe San Jose mayor, Johnny Araya, will be the next president of Costa Rica.
Araya, of the National Liberation Party (PLN) said that he will not feel triumphant, however, as he faces the “challenge of winning the support of all Costa Ricans.”
However, According to the poll, Araya is in a comfortable lead – only 4% of respondents felt that a candidate from the opposing Citizen Action Party (PAC) would become the next president, and only 3% believed a candidate from PUSC would win the presidential race.
Sixty-five percent of respondents said they believed the mayor has a “favorable image.”
If elections were held today, Araya would win the contest with 45% of the vote, according to the latest polls.
