Man sentenced to 30 years in death of stepson

Alban Fonseca has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his 2-year-old stepson, David Rocha.

On December 12th, 2011, the minor was admitted to Costa Rica’s National Children’s Hospital in critical condition. He had severe head trauma, apparently produced by a blow from an unknown object.  He also had other wounds to his head, left eye, right cheek, nose, ribs, legs, and was severely malnourished.

The child died two days after being admitted to the hospital as a result of his injuries.

The Court of Alajuela handed down the 30 year sentence to the boy’s stepfather.
