Fishman resigns from position as chief of PUSC

Luis Fishman

November 20th, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) Legislator Luis Fishman resigned his leadership yesterday afternoon of the “Partido Unidad Social Cristiana” (Social Christian Party, PUSC in Spanish).

Fishman said that his decision was due to the non-reelection of magistrate Fernando Cruz.

“(Their actions) really hurt me a lot, because I’ve known Magistrate Cruz since we were college students, and because I have followed his great judicial career closely, as well as his performance in the Constitutional Court,” said Fishman.

Though Fishman resigned from his leadership post, he did not disaffiliate himself with the PUSC party. He said, however, that there are “significant” disagreements between him and fellow party members.

The legislator Rodolfo Sotomayor, who will temporarily take the helm of the party, said that he is sorry to see Fishman resign the position.

Fishman said he had been considering his resignation for the past four days before making the announcement yesterday.
