Ex-president Oscar Arias married over the weekend

November 19th, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) On a beautiful night, underneath the stars and with their closest friends, Oscar Arias, 72 and Suzanne Fischel, joined in matrimony on Saturday.

 

The wedding between the ex-president and Fischel, an attorney, was held at the ex-president’s house in Rorhmoser, Pavas. The ceremony occurred at the pool area.

 

The wedding was a private and intimate affair, with only 80 guests. Only family members and their closest friends were invited, including Arias’s brother, Rodrigo Arias; the ex-minister of Health, Maria Luisa Avila, and the Inhabitants Rights Defender, Ofelia Taitelbaum.

 

The ceremony began around 8:30 pm. At 9:00 pm, a barrage of fireworks marked the end of the official ceremony, and the party began.

 

Michelle Mora Guardia, the wedding planner, said that festivities continued past 1:00 am.

 

Outside the residence, curious citizens and media waited expectantly, in hopes of catching a glimpse or a photo of the bride and groom. However, the couple decided to keep the event as private as possible, and have revealed no more than a few wedding photos.

 

Arias and Fischel have been in a relationship for three years.

 

Due to various commitments on the part of the ex-president, the couple’s honeymoon will be temporarily delayed.
