Young lover suspect in $400,000 robbery of his partner

November 1st, 2012 (InsideCostaRica.com) Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) agents have arrested a man by the last name of Salazar, for planning an armed robbery and threatening the life of his sentimental partner. Salazar, 25, was the partner of a 50 year old woman, a foreigner who resides in Costa Rica.

On June 2nd, Salazar was travelling with the woman, when suddenly two vehicles intercepted them in Barrio Mexico, San Jose.

Guns were pointed at the couple, and they were forced to drive to the foreigner’s home.

After arriving, the thieves filled bags with jewelry and cash amounting to a huge haul valued at $400,000 dollars.

According to authorities, one week after the robbery, Salazar’s family opened a bar in Tierra Blanca, Cartago. Agents presume that part of the stolen money was invested in the business. Investigations revealed that apparently it was Salazar who planned the events, along with his family members.

Salazar, his 45-year-old mother, by the last name Brenes, and his sister (28) were arrested in two operations carried out in Moravia and Tierra Blanca, Cartago. Authorities do not rule out more arrests in the near future, as the investigation continues.

In the raids, they found and confiscated cellular phones and valuable information that links the man and his family to the case.
