The drugs were hidden inside the three spare tires of a truck with Costa Rican license plates.

Minister of Security, Mario Zamora said that the truck was transporting cereal, and was being driven by a Nicaraguan man by the last name Ramirez.

The authorities also confirmed that the cargo’s final destination was Honduras.

This is the second load of cocaine that authorities have confiscated in the past month at Penas Blancas.

On September 27th the Drug Control Police confiscated 256 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside 16 tires of a tractor-trailer.

The confiscation brings to a total of 8.5 tons of cocaine that Costa Rican authorities have seized so far this year.
