7 in 10 cellular lines are now prepaid

October 11th, 2012 – According to information from the Telecommunications Superintendence, SUTEL, 7 out of 10 cellular phone lines in Costa Rica are now of the prepaid variety. There are now 4,735,000 cell phone lines in Costa Rica, of which 3,267,000 are prepaid lines.

 

“Tecno Systemas” carried out research that showed that merchants which provides reloads for prepaid lines make an average 6% commission.

 

Besides the commission, those who offer the cellphone reload service also generate more foot traffic in their establishments.

 

Any type of business can offer the reload services, be it a bar, mini-market, restaurant, store, beauty salon, Internet café, among others, so long as they have a computer with Internet access.
