SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – October 1st, 2012 – Requesting a loan in Costa Rica – in almost any bank – is often quite a hassle. The requirements are many, the lines to get to a bank representative are long, and the waiting periods for approval take time.
Banco Nacional, however, says it is in the process of changing all that, claiming that by next year getting a loan from the bank will be made far easier.
The bank is incorporating a new digital file system, which it says will drastically reduce the time and effort required to get a loan.
Once the digital system is ready, obtaining a credit card will take no more than 2 days, a car loan will be resolved in 3 days, and a home mortgage will take a maximum of just 12 days, according to the bank.
Currently, the paper-based loan applications are accepted at the bank’s branches, and are then physically taken to the loan-processing center. Depending on the branch, this can be a long journey.
With the bank’s new digital loan processing system, applications received at the bank’s branches are instantly received by the bank’s loan processing center.
As part of its improvement plan, the bank says it will also be adding specialized centers for business loans, as well as a call center to attend inquiries.
The system is expected to be ready by the middle of next year.
