Bus stops, hospital surroundings most dangerous places in the country

coca cola bus station

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – September 30th, 2012 – The “Coca Cola” bus stop, as well as the surroundings of San Juan de Dios Hospital, Calderon Guardia Hospital, Hospital Mexico, and the Central Market and its surrounding areas are the favorite places for criminals to commit their crimes in San Jose.

This comes according to the “heat maps” of criminal activity that Seguridad Pública had on display last week, which also showed that the hours from 4pm to 6pm are primetime for criminals preying on citizens.

The capital city remains the most crime-ridden area of the country.

According to Walter Navarro, Vice Minister of Security, criminals prefer these areas because they are congested, especially during the evening rush hours.

Navarro also mentioned that places such as Pavas, Desamparados, Hatillos, and Montes de Oca continue to be plagued by criminals.

Both the Fuerza Publica and the Municipal Police pay special attention to these areas, but advise citizens to always be alert, especially in the areas identified.
