SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – September 21st, 2012 – ICE let the cat out of the bag this week at the 4th annual EXPOTELECOM show, announcing that they will soon offer 4th generation cellular service, known as 4G LTE.
The product will be called Kolbi 4G, and, according to the ICE stand at the show, it will be offered “soon.” ICE did not, however, announce a launch date for the service. ICE says you will be “surprised by the speed of the connection.”
The service will allow ICE to offer real time video conferencing services, high definition video, and faster mobile data speeds. ICE also plans a “pay-per-view” video service over the system.
ICE had had originally planned the migration to 4G for 2015. However, it would appear they will be launching the service much sooner.
Ramon Gascue, director of EXPOTELECOM, said, “Kolbi is here presenting the 4G experience. 4G networks are not known of in the country and it is the first time that such is presented in this Expo.”
A total of 50 companies in the telecommunications, technology, Internet, security, cell phone handsets, and other sectors offered their services and products at this year’s EXPOTELECOM, which ended yesterday.
