ZAPOTE – September 11th, 2001 – The negotiations between OIJ and the man who had himself barricaded in his home for over 22 hours, ended yesterday.

Maricel Rodriguez, spokeswoman for the OIJ, said that the Special Service for Tactical Response (SERT, in Spanish) , entered the 34 year old man’s home around 1:45 p.m. and managed to arrest the man.
“A Molotov type bomb, a knife, a machete, and a pistol were found inside the house, it is also important to note that nobody was injured during the raid,” said the spokeswoman.
Quesada Mora began his standoff with police around 3pm on Sunday and remained remained barricaded in his home through yesterday morning. During the night, as well as the early morning, the man fired several gunshots.
During the negotiation, Quesada, who reportedly has mental health issues, said to the police that he was not going to leave his house because it would be “taken from him.”
Quesada Mora had built a barricade with furniture from his home, located in Quesada Duran, in order to stop judicial agents from entering.
The man will now undergo medical exams in order to determine his mental condition.
