Yesterday morning, the Executive President of the child protection agency PANI, Marielos Hernandez, announced that actions are being taken in regards to the child abuse case that three girls allegedly suffered in a children’s home in Golfito. The three girls were sisters, and apparently became victims of both physical and sexual abuse.
On August 14th, the opening of a process against the Golfito local office coordinator, the Brunca Region Director, the psychologist, and three ex employess was ordered.
They were notified of their suspension on August 23rd, and a hearing is expected to take place in the next few days.
“We are doing a detailed (investigation of) the files; the local office coordinator, Regional Office chief and a psychologist are suspended until the preliminary investigation in coordination with the Fuerza Publica is concluded. There approximately 50 files, in the case of these 3 little girls, I can say it is a case that has really impacted me, and they were supposed to be in better conditions, “ said Hernandez.
