Man shot at Pricesmart while arguing over a parking space

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – September 2nd, 2012 – An argument over a parking space in the Tibas Pricesmart in San Jose ended on Friday when a businessman got shot in his leg, and the other man was arrested.

 

The incident occurred around 12:23 pm, according to the local Fuerza Publica chief, Dagoberto Villalobos.

 

He explained that the fight started when the men began to exchange strong words while trying to grab a parking space.

 

After the insults, one of the men, identified by the last name of Chacon, took out a 22 caliber pistol and shot his rival- 37 year old businessman with the last name of Zuniga – in the left leg.

The wounded man works as the treasurer for a company that offers children’s games and lives in Santo Domingo, Heredia.

 

According to the police officer, the offender, who was arrested when trying to leave the premises, works in the importation and sale of cars in Sabanilla.

 

A properly registered six round handgun was confiscated from the man.  However, the man’s weapon permit had expired in 2010.
